UNCG's Gamradt Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Dustin Gamradt has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition Oct. 21-27. The selection is made by the league office.

The redshirt sophomore scored both of UNCG’s goals in its lone game of the week, a 2-1 victory over Georgia Southern on Saturday.

With the Spartans trailing their Homecoming match in the second half, Gamradt came off the bench to score a pair of goals just 7 minutes, 20 seconds apart to rally the home squad to the win. The goals, scored in the 68th and 76th minutes, were Gamradt’s fourth and fifth of the season.

Despite not starting a game and having appeared in just 11 matches total, the Kiel, Germany, native leads the Spartans in goals and is second on the squad in scoring (10 points) on the season.

The weekly award is the first of Gamradt’s career.

The win over the Eagles moved UNCG to 8-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the league, good for second in the SoCon standings.

The Spartans will head to Charlottesville, Va., to take on No. 23 Virginia on Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season at Elon (11-4-1, 3-2-0 SoCon) on Saturday.

Also nominated: Daniel Lovitz (Elon) and David Vargas Masis (Georgia Southern).
