Elon finishes 13th at Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Competing in a 19-team field that included four top-50 teams, the Elon women's golf squad concluded its fall season by placing 13th at the Palmetto Intercollegiate with a score of 929 (317-305-307) on Monday.

The maroon and gold was led by Kelsey Badmaev, who finished in a tie for 16th out of the 99 participants in the field. Badmaev carded a 224 (76-74-74) over her three rounds of play. The freshman ended the tournament with six birdies and one eagle.

Badmaev was followed by Emily Brooks, who tied for 43rd with a mark of 231 (77-77-77). Brooks posted four birdies, including two in her final round of play on Monday.

With a three-round score of 235 (80-76-79), Kathryn Buckingham placed in a tie for 61st. Buckingham recorded five birdies over her 54 holes.

In a tie for 79th was Katie Partridge, who shot a 242 (87-78-77) and had six birdies.

Rounding out the field for Elon was Kristi Ingram, who carded a 256 (84-82-90) to tie for 93rd. Ingram recorded two birdies.

Medalist honors were earned by Georgia State's Melissa Siviter, who was the lone player under par for the tournament. Siviter finished with a 2-under 214 (77-70-67).

Kansas, ranked 39th nationally, won the team title with a score of 876 (297-295-284). The remainder of the top four consisted of Georgia State (879), East Tennessee State (899) and No. 47 GRU Augusta (901).

With matching 902s, host and 42nd-ranked College of Charleston and 36th-rated Illinois tied for fifth.

 

Second round of Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown canceled, Furman 13th

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Second-round play at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the par-72, 6,320-yard Stallion Mountain Golf Club was canceled Monday due to high winds in the area.

Furman (+12) enters the final round tied with Fresno State and Denver for 13th place. The Paladins will tee off of holes 12, 13, and 14 at 8 a.m. Pacific time in Tuesday’s shotgun start.
