SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Allie Buchalski has been honored as the Southern Conference women’s cross country runner of the week for her performance during the weekend of Oct. 18-20, the league office announced Wednesday.
Buchalski set a new personal best time in the 5k at the Blue Ridge Open, completing the course in 17:39 to finish first. Her time was good enough for the seventh fastest time at the course. It was the second time in three meets that the freshman finished with the fastest time for Furman.
Buchalski’s first-place finish helped propel the Paladins to the team title, finishing first out of the 27 team field
Furman returns to action on Nov. 2 at the Southern Conference Championship in Birmingham, Ala.
