SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Raeven Lantz has been named the Southern Conference men’s cross country runner of the week for his performance during the weekend of Sept. 27-29, the league office announced Wednesday.
Lantz took the title at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational on Saturday, covering the 8k course with a personal-best time of 26:37. His time topped his previous personal best by 25 seconds.
The junior led his team to a first-place finish and has been the Bulldogs’ top finisher in all three races in 2013.
He is the first Citadel athlete to earn cross country runner of the week honors since Matt Holmes on Oct. 11, 2006.
The Citadel returns to action on Oct. 12 at the Disney Classic in Orlando, Fla.
