Greenville, S.C. – Ashton Gregory recorded 14 kills and no errors for a .700 hitting percentage and the Paladins downed Wofford, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-22) on Wednesday night in Alley Gym. The Paladins move to 10-8 on the year and 6-1 in SoCon play, while the Terriers fall to 8-13, 3-4 in the SoCon.

Gregory was the only Paladin with double-digit kills, putting down 14 kills in 20 swings and adding two blocks. Christina Dorismond had seven kills and no errors for a .467 hitting percentage and led the team with four blocks. Jo Wilks dished out 34 assists and Elle Ross led the team with 18 digs. The Paladins hit .300 as a team and held Wofford to a .178 hitting percentage. Furman also out-blocked the Terriers, 7-3.

Furman took an early 9-5 lead in set one, before a 4-0 run forced Wofford to call their first timeout of the set with the score at 13-5 in favor of the Paladins. Wofford used a 7-4 run of their own to cut the lead to five at 17-12, but Furman was able to pull away on a 6-2 run to stretch the lead to 23-14 and eventually take the set, 25-17.

Wofford took the early lead in set two at 5-1, but Furman rattled off seven consecutive points to take an 8-5 lead and force a Terrier timeout. The Paladins kept the pressure on, capitalizing on Wofford errors to stretch their lead to 17-10. Wofford cut the lead to six at 19-13, but Furman closed out the set on a 6-3 run to win set two, 25-16, and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The teams traded points in set three, before Furman used a 8-1 run to take a 20-10 lead. The teams again traded points, allowing Furman to take a 23-14 lead. The Terriers would not go quietly, however. Wofford put down five-consecutive points to cut the Furman lead to 23-19. A Casey Wells kill gave Furman match point at 24-19, but Wofford again cut the Paladin lead to three at 24-21, forcing a Furman timeout. Another Terrier kill cut the Furman lead to two at 24-24, but an Ashton Gregory kill was all the Paladins needed as they took set three, 25-22, and the match, 3-0.
