GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Sven Lissek has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, it was announced at CollegeSoccerNews.com on Monday morning.

Lissek, a native of Sewau, Germany, posted a pair of shutouts this past week to help Furman extend its unbeaten streak to nine matches and improve to 8-1-2 on the season. The sophomore stopped three shots, including a pair of saves in the final minutes of regulation, to guide the Paladins to a 0-0 draw at UNCG on Tuesday night before delivering two saves in a 2-0 victory at Davidson on Saturday evening.

With his two shutouts last week, Lissek boasts seven clean sheets this season and has led Furman to eight shutouts in its last nine matches. His 0.44 goals against average ranks in the third nationally while leading the Southern Conference. Lissek has started all 11 matches for Furman this season and has surrendered just one goal since Sept. 1. Furman enters the week leading the country with a 0.42 goals against average.

The Paladins moved to No. 17 in Monday morning’s Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 and held at No. 27 in the College Soccer News Top 30.

Furman returns to action on Tuesday night when it travels to nationally ranked Clemson. Kickoff at Historic Riggs Field is set for 7 p.m. The Paladins will host nationally ranked Elon in a key SoCon showdown on Oct. 19, on Seagraves Field at Stone Stadium at 7 p.m.
