Cougars Fifth at Nittany Lion Invite

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Senior Vanessa Koechli shot a 2-under 70 to lead the College of Charleston women’s golf team as the Cougars are in fifth place after the second round Saturday.

The Cougars shot a 9-over 297 combined score for the round, in which host Penn State separated themselves from the field with a 5-under round. The Nittany Lions (-1) hold a 20-shot lead over second-place Old Dominion (+19).

The Cougars (+25) are six shots back of the runner-up position and will be battling with several teams for the spot Sunday.

Koechli made four birdies en route to her under-par round and is even-par for the tournament and tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard.

Freshman Louise Olsson rebounded from an opening 10-over and was the Cougars’ second-best player on the day with a 2-over 74. Fellow freshman Julia Neumann shot a 4-over 76 and freshman Stacey Tomlinson rounded out the scoring with a 5-over 77.

The final round will commence with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
