WOLCOTT, Colo. –Senior
Laura Wearn carded a 73 and freshman Stephanie Carlozzi posted a 75 to lead
Furman in the second round at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Tuesday at
the par-72 Red Sky Golf Club.
Wearn (+4), tied for 24th place after 36 holes, birdied
three holes on the day and played her final 10 holes at 1-under in second-round
play. Carlozzi (+3), who fired an even-par 72 on Monday, moved to 2-under par
after back-to-back birdies at No. 2 and No. 3 but slipped to 3-over after
playing her final five holes at 5-over.
First round co-leader Pepperdine (-1) opened up a two-stroke
lead over second-place UC Davis (+1) with Oklahoma (+10) in third place. Mississippi
(+20) and Campbell (+25) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth,
respectively, while Furman (+36) is tied for 12th in the 18-team field.
Demi Runas (-6) of UC Davis vaulted into the lead with a
five-under 67 on Tuesday. She leads Pepperdine’s Grace Na (-5) by a single
stroke entering the final 18 holes.
Wednesday’s final round is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. MT with
a shotgun start.
