Chattanooga 14th at Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team is in 14th after a 23-over par 311 Friday at the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship on the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course. It was a long, slow round with just three teams besting 300 for their scores.

Texas is the early leader at six-over 294. Arizona is second, four shots back at 298. Kentucky is another stroke behind the Wildcats in third at 299.

Jordan Britt survived the long round with a three-over par 75. She got her lone birdie on the par-three 16^th, hitting the shot of the day on the hole. Her tee ball ended up around six feet from the hole, no small task with the greens playing as firm and fast as they did all day. Britt is tied for 18th, four behind a trio in the lead at minus-one (71).

Marion Duvernay shot six-over par 78. She is one shot ahead of Mette Kryger and Emily McLennan with twin 79s. Porsche Campbell had the drop score with an 83.

Olafia Kristinsdottir (Wake Forest), Brianna Mao (Virginia) and Caroline Powers (Michigan State) are tied for the lead at 71. There are four student-athletes tied for fourth at even par and another six tied for eighth at plus-one.

The average score was 77.13 spread among 80 golfers. Seventeen of the 18 holes played over par with the short par-five ninth, 455 yards, playing the easiest (-0.30).

The second round Saturday starts at 9 a.m. Central time for the Mocs. Campbell leads off No. 10 with UTC paired with North Carolina and Memphis. McLennan (9:09), Kryger (9:18), Duvernay (9:27) and Britt (9:36) follow.
