SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNCG junior midfielder Maximilian Schulz has been named the Southern Conference's men's soccer player of the week for all matches Aug. 24-26.
In his UNCG debut, the Northeim, Germany, native had a hand in both of the Spartans' goals in their 2-2 tie with UNCW on Friday.
Schulz, who played all 110 minutes in the double-overtime contest, assisted on UNCG's first goal in the 23rd minute and scored the equalizer in the 53rd after the Spartans had fallen behind.
After the opening weekend of play, Schulz shares the SoCon scoring lead with three points.
UNCG returns to action Tuesday at East Tennessee State at 7 p.m.
Also nominated: Lee Williams (Appalachian State), Ralphie Lundy (College of Charleston), Chris Thomas (Elon) and Danny Hojaij (Furman).
