GREENVILLE, S.C. - Furman defender Walker Zimmerman has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, it was announced on Sunday night at www.CollegeSoccerNews.com.

The 6-foot-3 center back headed in an Adrian McInnis throw in for the Paladins' second goal and helped anchor a Furman defense that produced a clean sheet in Friday night's 3-0, season-opening victory over Presbyterian College.

Zimmerman, a 2011 NSCAA All-America and Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, netted five goals during his rookie campaign last season before helping lead the back line for the U.S. U-20 National Team this summer.

Furman (1-0-0) returns to action on Monday when it faces Gardner-Webb in a 7 p.m. match in Boiling Springs, N.C.
