Samford?s Brad Moss Signs as Free Agent With Giants

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Samford catcher Brad Moss has signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants, the club announced on Wednesday.

Moss, who served as Samford's starting catcher for the past four years, turned in his best season as a senior in 2012. Moss batted .321 with nine doubles, two home runs and 44 RBI in his final season in a Samford uniform.

For his career, Moss hit 26 doubles and drove in 97 runs, and he developed into one of the top catchers in the Southern Conference.

As a senior in 2012, Moss helped lead Samford to the best season in the history of the program. The Bulldogs won a school-record 41 games and earned the program's first Southern Conference title and first NCAA Tournament bid.

Moss becomes the eighth member of the 2012 Samford baseball team to sign with a professional team. Brandon Miller, Lex Rutledge, Josh Martin, Tyler Vanderheiden, Joseph Burns, Saxon Butler and Charles Basford were all selected in the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this month.
