The Citadel Head Coach Fred Jordan:

"It was a good ball game. Elon hit two homeruns and jumped us early. Unfortunately for us, we hit six balls extremely hard and their players made some incredible catches. You have to credit Whitehead for pitching a complete game. It was a tough day, but we will be back."

"Sometimes the game doesn't treat you well and that is what is great about this game. It just wasn't our time. But it is no fault to Nick Orvin or Justin Mackert. They had a great four years."

The Citadel's Nick Orvin:

"We played hard and made most of the plays. They got the ball out of the ballpark and we didn't. We pitched just okay. They pitched well. I give credit to them."

"I didn't know how we were going to come out. I felt like we were in the game the whole time, even though we didn't come out on top."

The Citadel's Justin Mackert:

"I'm proud of our guys for coming out and playing hard. I feel like we were the underdogs all year. It was a much better year than last year. I'm proud of the guys for getting us here and it's been a pretty good year."

"It's tough, I love this game a lot. It stings you in the gut a little bit. I'll always be a huge baseball fan. But Nick and I both have a bright future ahead of us. We just have to keep moving on."

Elon Head Coach Mike Kennedy:

"The performance on the mound by Whitehead was incredible. Everything we needed to get done today from a pitching stand point, came through. It gives us a chance. We have a few health issues with some guys, but if we can get them competing a little bit, you never know what can happen. I was really pleased. We also had good at bats. We have great character on our team. It was a great team effort.

 
Elon's David Whitehead:

"It felt good to pitch a complete game. It's the most innings I've ever pitched. The defense behind me helped out a lot."

"I knew coming in I had to go long. Luckily, the pitching was able to keep us in a position to win."

Elon's Joey Tomko:

"I hurt my neck in yesterday's game. I woke up this morning in a lot of pain. I went to the hospital and had negative x-rays. The doctor said if I felt like I could play, then I could. I took a few swings and I knew I wanted to play."

"I've had success against left-handed pitchers. I knew I could help out the team if I played."

Elon's Ryan Kinsella:

"He left one over the plate, and I thought I had a double. I ended up getting it over the monster."
