"This is certainly not the way I envisioned us coming down here and playing the first game. It's a disappointment to play how we have all year and then show up and play like this. The game got away from us and when it did we just shut it down. The end result is that we got our tail kicked."

Elon Alex Swim:

"We didn't play well and it snowballed after that. We just kept giving up hits. But we'll come out tomorrow and play well."

"We have to put this one behind us. What has happened, has happened, and it's not a big deal. We'll just come out tomorrow swinging and play a lot better."

Elon Sebastian Gomez:

"It's definitely disappointing. It's unacceptable for us, and we're much better than this. Tomorrow we will have to play to win."

"We packed it in after a few runs got put on us. We've been doing it all season. We can't shut down the way we did."

Georgia Southern Head Coach Rodney Hennon:

"It was a well-pitched game and that got us off to a good start. Our team just came in and responded and executed very well."

"We didn't waste any at bats today. We had a good approach and our guys weren't trying to do too much. We kept the game simple. Fortunately balls found holes in the infield and we ran the bases well. Ultimately that's what helped us put the game away."

Georgia Southern Chris Beck:

"I just tried to minimize damage and work hard. The defense played great behind me.

"You just have to be hot at the right time. You have to bear down when you get a lead like that in baseball. If a team gets a little air, crazy things can happen in baseball. You can't blink, and you've got to keep going. Our team did a good job of concentrating today."
