SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Heather Robb has been named the Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Georgia Southern’s Allie Miles has been tabbed the Pitcher of the Week for all games April 23-29.
Robb, who is the first Spartan to win the award this season, hit .750 last week going 6-for-8 with a double and two home runs. As UNCG swept Western Carolina, she turned in a .778 on-base percentage and recorded a 1.625 slugging percentage. She walked once and had three RBI for the Spartans.
On Saturday, the junior was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run that tied the game. Robb followed up her performance with another homer and a walk in the second game.
The shortstop turned in another multi-hit game Sunday with a double and scored what was ultimately the winning run in the fourth inning as the Spartans completed the sweep of Western Carolina.
Robb has hit a career-high eight home runs this season and is now ranked ninth on UNCG’s career list.
Also receiving nominations for player of the week were Appalachian State’s Megan Rembielak, Furman’s Jessie Homesley, Georgia Southern’s Tabby Douberley, Samford’s Madison Dickey and Chattanooga’s Michelle Fuzzard.
Miles tossed her first one-hitter of the season Saturday against Elon. It was her third career one-hitter. She struck out nine batters in that game and has not allowed a run in her last 20.1 innings in the circle.
In her two appearances last week, the sophomore right hander went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA is now 6-5 on the season.
