SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston's Kyle Parker has been named the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for all matches April 9-15.  Parker went 3-1 in singles play and was 4-0 in doubles action as the Cougars went 3-1 to claim a share of the Southern Conference regular season championship.  The Cougars knocked off Georgia Southern (4-3), The Citadel (6-1) and Davidson (5-2) and fell to Appalachian State (5-2) to finish the year 9-1 in league play.

Parker began the week with a 6-7, 6-4, 4-7 (7-4) loss to Georgia Southern's Kyle Hoffman, but it would be his only setback of the week.  Playing No. 3 singles, the Richmond, Va., native rebounded to top The Citadel's James Atkinson,
6-3, 6-3 and beat Appalachian State's Alain Humblet, 6-4, 6-3.  The junior rallied to beat Davidson's Nicky Kunz, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Teamed with Mickael Trintignac at No. 1 doubles, the CofC duo went 4-0 last week.  They held off GSU's Andrew Dromsky and Alain Garrido, 9-8 and downed The Citadel's Atkinson and David Orces by the same score.  Parker and Trintignac held off ASU's Philip Kloc and Sebastien King 8-5, and closed the regular season with an 8-6 victory over Davidson's Joe Schafer and Calum Gee.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Steve Karendal, Georgia Southern's Kyle Hoffman, UNCG's Orcun Seyrek, Samford's Zac Dunkle, Chattanooga's Ankit Chopra and Wofford's Rob Galloway.
