HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – UNCG maintains a four-stroke lead Monday after two rounds of the 2012 Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club.
The Spartans fired a 310 (+22) in the second round, followed closely by Chattanooga which shot a 620 (+15). The Mocs jumped four spots in the standings after 36 holes. College of Charleston rounds out the top three with a score of 631 (+55).
Chattanooga’s Jordan Britt is atop the player leaderboard at 148 (+4). The sophomore fired a 71 (-1) in the second round. She is followed by teammate Maria Juliana Loza and Furman’s Alexa Rancourt who are tied for the second spot at 151 (+7).
UNCG’s Ana Lucia Martinez is in fourth place with a score of 152 (+8) after shooting a 74 (+2) on Sunday. UNCG’s Begona Sarabia, who was yesterday’s leader, shot a 79 in the second round to put her tied for fifth with a score of 153 (+7).
Furman, which finished in third place after the first day, drops to fourth with a score of 633 (+57). Samford moves into fifth and is close behind the Paladins with 636 (+60).
Western Carolina and Elon are tied for sixth place at 637 (+61). Appalachian State, Wofford and The Citadel round out the team leaderboard with scores of 638 (+62), 650 (+74) and 697 (+121), respectively.
The final round of the championship will begin Monday morning at 8 a.m. ET with results updated every three holes at www.golfstatresults.com. The 54-hole championship will conclude on Tuesday.
