Schnell, Bradshaw Named Women's Athletes of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Ashley Schnell and Western Carolina’s Alisha Bradshaw have been named the Southern Conference’s Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over the weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.

Schnell picked up her second consecutive weekly honor after running a personal best in the 5000m at the Stanford Invite Friday evening. With a time of 16:01, the Lincoln, Neb., native posted the top time in the NCAA East Region and the fifth-best time overall in the NCAA. 

With her performance, the senior also broke her own school record by 34 seconds and leads the league by 17 seconds.

Bradshaw, a freshman, took the conference lead in the discus at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic after tossing a Western Carolina record of 46.33m (152’ 11”).

The Salisbury, N.C., native also recorded a personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.85m (157’8”).

The Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship will be held in Cullowhee, N.C. on April 21-22.
