UNCG?s Cnops Tabbed Women?s Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNCG freshman Fanny Cnops has been selected as the Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for all competition from April 4-10.

Cnops placed second over the weekend at the prestigious Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C., an event which featured 13 of the top 50 ranked teams in the country. The Gent, Belgium native was one of just two golfers in the field of 93 to finish under par, firing a two-under par 214. After shooting a 73 (+1) in round one, Cnops was in the red with a second round 70 (-2) and again with a 71 (-1) in the final round.

The freshman placed ahead of 20 golfers ranked in the top 100 nationally and finished as runner-up to the nation's number one ranked golfer, Lindy Duncan of Duke.

Cnops has claimed the SoCon's weekly award three times in seven weeks this season.

Other Nominees: Kayla Turner (Samford) and Marion Duvernay (Chattanooga).
