SPARTANBURG, S.C. – College of Charleston’s Kelly Kambourelis has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.
The sophomore led the Cougars women’s tennis team to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over No.44 Oklahoma last week.
The Melbourne, Fla., native was in a three-set thriller with Oklahoma’s Marie-Pier Huet, where the sophomore right-hander clinched the match, 5-7, 7-6, 6-2 at No.2 singles with a back-hand shot down the line.
Kambourelis maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in communications.
Also nominated this week were Appalachian State golfer Rumbidzai Masamvu, Furman baseball player Will Miller, UNCG’s tennis player Lucy Dougherty, Chattanooga golfer Stephen Jaeger and Western Carolina baseball player Dykota Spiess.
