SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State junior Lauren Smith has been selected as the Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 14-20.
Smith shot a career-best 69 (-3) in the opening round and finished third among 54 golfers at the Ocala Spring Invitational in Ocala, Fla. Smith, who finished the event at even-par 216 (69-76-71), helped ASU to a third-place finish as well.
In addition to being a career-low, Smith's opening round 69 also tied ASU's program record.
Other Nominees: Martyna Mierzwa (Elon), Daffadil Sanchez (Furman), Fanny Cnops (UNCG), Anna Heim (Samford) and Maria Kjelldorff (Western Carolina).
