SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern’s Marie Fogle has been named the Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Chattanooga’s Taylor Deason has been tabbed the Pitcher of the Week. The selections are made by the league office.
Fogle went 11-for-20 (.550) with five runs scored this week. She had a pair of doubles and triples along with a home run for a 1.000 slugging percentage. The senior outfielder is second in the league in hits with 40.
The Rincon, Ga., native tallied a .609 on base percentage last week and successfully stole five bases.
Deason picks up her second honor as the conference’s Pitcher of the Week after tossing four complete games. The freshman tallied 19 strikeouts during 26.2 innings of work in the circle and earned two wins.
The Clarksville, Tenn., native tossed a complete game two-hit shutout against Canisius at the USF “The Game” Invitational and struck out seven batters.
The right hander, who currently posts a 2.26 ERA, leads the league in wins (11) and innings pitched (102).
