SPARTANBURG, S.C. - On Sunday night, the Wofford College men's basketball learned that they will play in the postseason for a third straight year with an invitation to the 2012 College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen. The Terriers will face Pittsburgh on Wednesday, March 14.
Wofford is currently 19-13 overall and finished 12-6 in the Southern Conference South Division to tie for second place. The team features five players in the senior class that have posted 82 wins in their four seasons. Seniors Brad Loesing and Kevin Giltner were named All-Southern Conference this season.
Pittsburgh is 17-16 overall and was defeated by Georgetown in the opening round of the Big East Tournament. The Terriers and Panthers have only met once before. On November 13, 2009 in the season opener for both teams, Pittsburgh came away with a 63-60 win at the Peterson Events Center.
The 2012 College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen will begin on Tuesday, March 13 and end with a best-of-three Championship Series that begins on Monday, March 26.
The fifth annual CBI presented by Zebra Pen will again consist of 16 teams vying for a national championship. Two of the eight First Round games will commence on Tuesday, March 13 with the remaining First Round games being played on Wednesday, March 14. The Quarterfinal Round will take place on Monday, March 19 with Semifinal Round games being played on Wednesday, March 21.
A unique feature of the CBI presented by Zebra Pen is its best-of-three Championship Series, which begins on Monday, March 26 and continues on Wednesday, March 28. Should a third game be necessary, it will be played on Friday, March 30.
