SPARTANBURG, S.C. – College of Charleston’s Stephanie Saylors has been named the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Chattanooga’s Michelle Fuzzard has been tabbed the Player of the Week, for the second consecutive week. The selections are made by the league office
Saylors (2-1), a junior from Easley, S.C., tossed her first career perfect game against Wagner in the College of Charleston’s 4-0 victory Sunday. She struck out four batters and posted a 1.09 ERA last week. The junior struck out 12 batters against Charleston Southern in the Cougars midweek doubleheader in her seven innings of work in the circle.
Fuzzard, who picked up her second weekly honor, finished the week with a .750 batting average after nine hits and 4 RBI for the Lady Mocs. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native compiled a 1.083 slugging percentage and an .833 on-base percentage, reaching base in 15 of 18 plate appearances.
