Harper Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon’s Aiesha Harper has been named the Southern Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played February 14-20, the league office announced today. 

Harper helped lead the Phoenix to a pair of wins on the road last week at Georgia Southern and College of Charleston. The senior posted a career-high 21 points in Elon’s 83-53 win at Georgia Southern. She also dished out four assists while picking up four steals and finishing 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

The Pottstown, Pa., native recorded a game-high 16 points Monday night in a 63-50 win over the Cougars. Harper also grabbed six rebounds, went 6-of-7 from the line and went 2-of-2 from long range.

Elon will finish the regular season with a pair of home games against Wofford and Western Carolina this week, before traveling to Asheville, N.C., for the 2012 Southern Conference Basketball Tournament on March 2-5.

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Maryah Sydnor, College of Charleston’s Latisha Harris, Davidson’s Sophia Aleksandravicius, UNCG’s Breonna Patterson, Samford’s Hannah Dawson and Chattanooga’s Kayla Christopher.
