SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern’s Brooke Red has been named the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Chattanooga’s Michelle Fuzzard has been tabbed the Player of the Week for all games February 14-19. The selections are made by the league office.
Red, a freshman on the Eagles squad, made three appearances with two victories last week. In her first collegiate victory, she held the Georgia State Panthers to just one unearned run and only gave up three hits in six innings. Red tossed a two-hit shutout in her seven innings of work against Drake and finished the weekend with a relief appearance against USF.
Fuzzard finished the weekend at the Georgia State Panther Invite with an .833 batting average which included a double, two home runs and five RBI. The senior has recorded an RBI in four straight contests for the Lady Mocs and has 13 RBI on the season, which leads the conference by four after two weekends of action. She compiled a 2.000 slugging percentage and a .819 on-base percentage during Chattanooga’s three games last week.
