Pace Named Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Haley Pace has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.

Pace hit .438 in Western Carolina’s four games over the weekend at the Georgia State First Pitch Classic. In the Catamounts’ 5-4 win over ETSU on Saturday, the junior hit a solo homer giving Western Carolina an early 1-0 lead.  She later belted a two-run homer in the third inning. Pace was responsible for three of the Catamounts five runs in that game. 

In the team’s 11-10 loss to Longwood, she recorded a home run, a double, three hits, four RBI and a run scored. On Sunday the Catamounts faced ETSU again and Pace had a run, a hit, a double and an RBI.

The Canton, N.C., native finished the opening weekend with seven hits, eight RBI, four runs and three home runs.

Pace maintains a 3.973 GPA in Biology.
