Deason, Hill Earn Weekly Softball Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Taylor Deason has been named the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Elon’s Camille Hill has been tabbed the Player of the Week for all games February 10-12. The selections are made by the league office.

Deason, a freshman from Clarksville, Tenn., went 2-0 over the weekend at the Dot Richardson National Collegiate Invitational. In her first collegiate start, Deason tossed a complete game against Florida A&M, giving up three hits and striking out six. All three runs scored came in the first inning.

The freshman right-hander saw a little over an inning in the circle in Chattanooga’s 10-0 loss to North Carolina, who was receiving votes in the national polls. Deason struck out two and gave up two runs in that appearance.

Deason closed out the weekend for the Lady Mocs by getting the start against Florida Atlantic. She gave up just three hits while striking out five batters.

Hill, a Marietta, Ga. native, recorded seven hits in 10 at-bats in Elon’s four games over the weekend. In Elon’s 8-0 win over Georgetown, Hill went 3-for-3 with one RBI. She scored nine runs and had four RBI throughout the Elon Invitational.

Hill currently posts a .750 on base percentage and a .700 slugging percentage.
