SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga junior Lucas Cotter and Appalachian State junior Jared Stalling have been named the Southern Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over the weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.
Cotter recorded a league-leading time of 8:13.18 in the 3000 meter run. The Memphis native used the last 600 meters to gain on the lead pack and finish fourth in the Rod McCravy Memorial.
Stalling, a Greensboro, N.C., native won the shot put at the Niswonger Invitational with a throw of 54-0. With the throw, which was a personal best, he remains in first place in the conference.
Chattanooga will not be back in action until next week, while Appalachian State will compete at the Penn State Invitational this weekend.
