GREENVILLE, S.C. –
Furman women’s soccer standout Stephanie DeVita has been named to the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Southeast Region Second Team, it was
announced by the NSCAA on Wednesday.
DeVita, a native of Simpsonville, S.C., garnered Southern
Conference Player of the Year, SoCon Freshman of the Year and first-team
All-SoCon honors this season after pacing the league with 19 goals and 42 total
points. The forward led all NCAA Division I freshman in goals (19), points (42)
and match-winning goals (seven) while ranking in the top 10 in the national
overall in each category.
The Hillcrest High School and Carolina Elite Soccer Academy
(CESA) product scored at least one goal in 16 of 22 matches for the Paladins
while becoming just the fourth player in SoCon history to earn both player and
freshman of the year honors in the same season.
DeVita, who was the only SoCon player to earn all-region
honors, helped the Paladins to a 16-3-3 record and a berth in the SoCon tournament
final in 2012.
