Khishignyam Named Wrestler of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Ugi Khishignyam has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition Dec. 5-11. The selection is made by the league office.

Khishignyam helped the Bulldogs to a 32-12 win over Davidson in their SoCon opener on Thursday in Charleston, S.C. The redshirt freshman from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, posted a 21-6 technical fall over the Wildcats’ Sejiro Littleton at 141 pounds in his first-ever league bout.

Khishignyam, ranked seventh nationally at 141, improved to 14-2 on the year and 2-0 in dual meets.

The weekly award is the first of his career. Khishignyam becomes the second Bulldog to earn the honor this season, joining teammate Odie Delaney, who took the award on Nov. 21.

The Citadel (1-1, 1-0 SoCon) is back in action at the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nev., on Sunday.
