Furman's Bobby Austin Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Furman's Bobby Austin has been named the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Dec. 4-10.  Austin scored a career-high 20 points as Furman raced past Presbyterian (81-57) Sunday afternoon.

The Cincinnati, Ohio, native's 20 points were a career high and came on the strength of six 3-pointers against the Blue Hose.  Austin produced a strong all-around game as he added four rebounds, three assists and three steals in 36 minutes of action. He shot 7-of-14 from the floor, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range. 

Furman's 15 made 3-pointers was the third-highest single-game total in school history.

The Paladins (3-5, 0-1 SoCon) return to action Saturday (Dec. 15) when they travel to face Auburn.  Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Jay Canty, College of Charleston's Adjehi Baru, Davidson's Nik Cochran, Elon's Lucas Troutman, Samford's Tim Williams, Western Carolina's James Sinclair and Wofford's Taylor Wagener.
