STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern's women's soccer team will open the 2012 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship against No. 3 seeded Wake Forest on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The 2012 Southern Conference champions enter the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history against the 15-5-3 Demon Deacons, an at-large selection from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Eagles are 10-7-5 on the year and won their first SoCon title on Sunday. Georgia Southern, the No. 8 seed, played third-seeded Furman to a scoreless draw before prevailing in penalty kicks, 5-4, to secure the SoCon's automatic bid.

No. 1 seeds Brigham Young, Florida State, Penn State and Stanford highlight the 64-team field. First-round, second-round, third-round and quarterfinal matches will be played at campus sites. The tournament will then shift to San Diego, Calif., for the College Cup on Nov. 30 and Dec. 2.
