The Phoenix jumped out to a five-point lead to start the game off a layup by Coffer and a three by Ford. With the Elon lead at just two with under 12 minutes remaining, the maroon and gold went on a 9-0 run that was capped by a Redmond jumper at the 9:48 mark to extend the advantage to 11, 27-16. The Seahawks whittled its deficit down to four, 30-26, to force an Elon timeout with 4:01 on the clock. The Phoenix would take a 37-30 edge into the locker room after the first 20.

The Seahawks came out strong in the second half and grabbed the lead by six, 59-53, at the 5:12 mark. Ford closed the gap to three by knocking down a huge three pointer and then tied the game at 59-all with three free throws after being fouled by UNCW's Jessica Freeman. A jumper by Jessica Farmer with the help of one of Redmond's steals put the Phoenix back on top, 61-59, with 2:31 left on the clock. A basket by Redmond and made free throws for Evans solidified the six-point win for Elon as the clock ticked under a minute.

The Phoenix will continue home play with a match up against American on Saturday, Nov. 24. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Troy 118, Furman 96

TROY, ALA. -- Kourtney Coleman and Joanna Harden scored 19 points each to lead a contingent of six double figure scorers and Troy blistered the nets by shooting 64.3 percent from the field to outgun Furman, 118-96, in women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at Trojan Arena.

The Trojans (1-2) converted 45-of-70 field goal attempts and 23-of-28 free throws en route to their first victory of the season.

Troy's 118-point outburst marked the second highest tally ever against Furman (1-2), which was paced by Teshia Griswold's career high 25-point performance.  Sarah Durdaller added 21 points and nine rebounds for the Paladins, who were without injured preseason All-SoCon forward Brittany Hodges.

Brigid Morrissey chipped in 11 points for the Paladins, who shot 42.2 percent from the field (35-of-83) but wilted under the Trojans' up-tempo offense.  Troy outscored Furman 77-50 on points in the paint.

A Savonia Bryan layup a little over two minutes into the game gave Furman a 9-7 lead, but it would last only six seconds before Britney McCloud drained a jump shot to tie the contest.

Troy led 27-23 midway through the first half before putting together a 12-3 run to go up 39-26 on a McCloud layup with 4:56 remaining.

The Trojans, who connected on 18-of-29 shots in the first half (62.1 percent), built on their 51-37 halftime advantage, extending it to 19 points at 64-45 on a Beverly-Kelley 3-pointer two minutes into the second half.

Furman made two mild second half runs, cutting the Trojans' lead to 13 points at 78-65 on a Kelsey Ellis 3-pointer at the 12:07 mark and later to 12 points at 86-74 with a Teshia Griswold layup, but both times Troy answered to keep the Paladins in check.

The Trojans' shooting heated up even more over the game's final 20 minutes (65.9 percent).

Coleman claimed a game high 10 rebounds to go along with her 19 points for Troy.

Furman returns to action on Saturday when it entertains Mercer in a 2:00 p.m. contest at Timmons Arena.
