16 SoCon Teams Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Sixteen of the Southern Conference’s 20 soccer programs earned NSCAA Team Academic Awards for the 2011-12 academic year, the organization announced this week. Seven of the SoCon’s eight men’s teams and nine of the league’s 12 women squads earned the distinction.

The award recognizes programs that post team grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

Appalachian State, Davidson, Elon, Furman and UNCG were among the 150 schools nationally to have both their men’s and women’s programs honored.

Georgia Southern and Wofford also earned the award on the men’s side, while College of Charleston, The Citadel, Chattanooga and Western Carolina took the honor on the women’s side.
