STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern’s men’s and women’s soccer teams will host their first night games at Eagle Field this month after the successful installation of lights on the Eagles’ home turf.

“I think that lighting this facility puts Eagle Field on par with some of the best stadiums in the country,” said men’s soccer coach Kevin Kennedy. “Now, rather than being a soccer game at 4 on a Tuesday or a Saturday, it will be an event with a great atmosphere under the lights. The players here have really dreamed of having the opportunity to play under the lights in front of their peers, and we’re excited to give them that opportunity.”

The first night game will be on Friday, Oct. 12, as the Eagle men’s soccer team hosts Elon at 7 p.m. Southern will host two more night games this season on Tuesday, Oct. 16, against UNCG and Tuesday, Oct. 23, against Furman. All games start at 7 p.m.

GSU’s women’s soccer teams enters the lighted age on Friday, Oct. 19, against Furman before Davidson comes to town for the regular-season finale on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts.
