BracketBuster Pairings Announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Four Southern Conference men's basketball teams learned their pairings for the 2012 Sears BracketBuster event earlier today (January 30).   Davidson was selected to appear on television and will host Wichita State on Saturday, February 18.  The matchup between the Wildcats and Shockers will begin at noon and will be televised by either ESPN or ESPN2. 

Wofford (14-8, 7-3 SoCon) will travel to take on Charleston Southern (14-7, 8-3 Big South).  The Terriers and Buccaneers have not met since Wofford came away with an 84-65 victory over CSU December 18, 2004.  Wofford trails in the all-time series, 10-8.

Winthrop (9-14, 6-6 Big South) visits Appalachian State (9-11, 5-5 SoCon).  The Mountaineers hold a 4-1 lead in the all-time series, including a 70-51 win on November 30, 2009.  Appalachian State is 3-2 in BracketBuster games.

College of Charleston (12-9, 4-6 SoCon) owns a 4-1 record in BracketBuster games and has won its last four games in the event.  The Cougars will travel to face Kent State (14-6, 4-3 MAC) in what will be just the second meeting between the two teams.  CofC came away with a 71-66 victory in the 2003 NIT.

Wichita State is currently 18-4 (9-2 MVC) and visits Davidson (15-5, 9-1 SoCon), which is 2-1 in BracketBuster games.

The Southern Conference is 17-12 all-time in BracketBuster games dating back to 2004.  League teams were 5-0 in the event last season.  Southern Conference schools are 10-3 in home games and 7-9 on the road.
