SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman junior Raegan Thompson has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.
The 5-foot-10 guard drained a game-winning three-pointer with two seconds remaining to give the Paladins a 66-64 road win over UNCG Saturday afternoon.
Thompson’s game-winner was part of Furman’s second-half comeback as the Paladins overcame a 16-point deficit. In Saturday’s game, Thompson had a team-high 16 points and finished 4-of-9 from long range.
She also had 14 points and matched a career-high five steals in Furman’s 75-66 win over Wofford Monday night.
The Oak Ridge, Tenn., native maintains a 3.62 GPA in health science.
Other nominees included Appalachian State women’s basketball player Kelsey Sharkey and Chattanooga runner Lucas Cotter.
