The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team put on a dominating performance in four wins at the Lone Star Duals in Grand Prairie, Texas, today. The Mocs dropped just six individual matches while improving their dual record to 8-3 on the season.

Sophomore Shawn Greevy (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and juniors Robert Prigmore (Southlake, Texas) and Niko Brown (Kissimmee, Fla.) all posted perfect 4-0 marks on the day. Prigmore, competing near his hometown, led the team with two decisions, a technical fall and a pin at 184.

The Mocs started off against Air Force and split the first four matches. Freshman Nick Soto, currently ranked No. 14 in the nation at 133, scored his first of three wins with a 4-2 decision over Tyler Untrauer. The Falcons' No. 3 Cole Von Ohlen tied the match at seven when he beat Mocs senior Kelly Felix (Franklin, Tenn.) 6-0 at 149. Chattanooga closed out the match with six straight wins to come away with a 28-7 victory.

The Mocs again split the first four matches against Utah Valley in their second outing. Senior Dan Waddell's (Chattanooga, Tenn.) major decision over Napoleon Aniciete at 157 sparked another run of six consecutive wins. Chattanooga defeated the Wolverines 27-7.

The third match was even more one-side for the Mocs. UTC fell behind 0-3 after losing to Brown at 125. Chattanooga then went on a 9-0 run that resulted in a 37-3 win over the Bears. Junior Dean Pavlou (Cleveland, Tenn.) highlighted this win, pinning Max Lewin (4:31) at 157 after moving up a weight.

The final match of the day saw UTC down Wayland Baptist 46-3. Freshmen Ethan Hames (Cleveland, Tenn.) and Trey Stavrum (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and junior Bradley Rogers (Collierville, Tenn.) all won their first match in a dual against WBU. Hames highlighted the action with a pin at 4:59 in the 133 match.

The Mocs return to Southern Conference action next weekend when they visit Campbell and Davidson. UTC travels to Buies Creek, N.C., on Friday, Jan. 20, to face the Camels at 7:00 p.m. (E.S.T.). The Mocs then visit the Wildcats on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 2:00 p.m.

Hampton, Va. - Turtogtokh Luvsandorj, Kelby Smith and Odie Delaney all went a perfect 5-0 over the weekend as The Citadel wrestling team placed eighth out of 14 teams at the Virginia Duals held at the Hampton Coliseum. The Bulldogs opened the second day of action with a 22-15 win over North Carolina before dropping a 19-18 heart-breaker on a tiebreaker to North Dakota State and losing in the seventh-place bout to the University of Buffalo 24-15.

Against the Tar Heels, the Bulldogs opened an early 7-0 lead as Richard Alarcon posted a 12-1 major decision at 125 and Kyle Casaletto held on for a 9-8 decision at 133. North Carolina took three out of the next four matches to knot the score at 10-10, but Luvsandorj posted a 3-0 decision at 174 to give the Bulldogs a 13-10 lead. A technical fall victory gave the Tar Heels a 15-13 lead, before Smith and Delaney posted wins in the top two weight classes. Smith scored a 7-5 decision and Delaney picked up his first of three pins on the day at the 1:21 mark.

North Dakota State opened a 15-3 lead, winning five of the first six matches in the following bout. Luvsandorj cut into the deficit with a pin at the 2:51 mark and after a decision loss at 184, Smith picked up a 6-3 decision to make the score 18-12 heading to the heavyweight matchup. Delaney proceeded to pin Evan Knutson at the 1:59 mark to even the score at 18-18. The Bison gained the win on the first tiebreaker criteria, total wins, six to four.

In the seventh-place bout against Buffalo, the Bulldogs fell behind early and could not catch up. Casaletto, Luvsandorj, Smith and Delaney all posted victories, including a pin in just 42 seconds by Delaney to improve to 14-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs return to action Friday, Jan. 20, as they open the Southern Conference portion of the schedule with a dual meet against Appalachian State at 7:00 p.m.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Appalachian State University wrestling finished 2-1 in three dual matches at the 2012 Hilton Arlington Lone Star Duals on Saturday. The Mountaineers began the day with a 41-4 win over Brown, and edged out Harvard, 22-21. No. 12 Oklahoma defeated Applachian, 41-0, in ASU's final dual.

ASU was scheduled to also face Utah Valley, but the match was cancelled.

In the day's first dual match, senior Austin Trotman (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) earned his 115th career victory, officially becoming Appalachian's outright all-time career victories leader. The first dual also featured pins by ASU junior Brett Boston (Morganton, N.C./Freedom) (133 pounds) and freshman Paul Weiss (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) (197).

Appalachian's meeting with Harvard began with a pin by Tony Gravely (Martinsville, Va./Magna Vista) at 125 pounds before the Crimson responded at 133. Senior Mike Kessler (Bay City, Mich./Western) added a major decision to open up a 10-3 lead, which would become the largest by either team in the match.

Harvard won back-to-back bouts to take its first lead at 12-10, but No. 13 Kyle Blevins (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa) responded with a technical fall to put the Apps back on top. After Harvard went back on top, No. 9 Trotman earned major decision to put ASU in front, 19-17. After the penultimate bout, the Crimson held a slim lead, but a 7-3 decision by heavyweight Joe Cummings (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Nyack) clinched the 22-21 win for Appalachian.

In the Mountaineers' final match, No. 12 Oklahoma lived up to its national-rank and had little trouble defeating ASU. In the closest bout, Trotman stuck with Erich Shmidtke for most of the bout, but the Sooner was able to ride the duration of the third period and win by way of his riding-time point.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Friday, Jan. 20 when they head to face Southern Conference opponent The Citadel at 7 p.m.

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Davidson wrestling team suffered a pair of defeats at the Patriot Duals Saturday, falling to host George Mason, 34-9, and Cleveland State, 31-6.

Freshman Anthony Elias led Davidson (0-9) with a pair of decisions at 133 pounds.

The Wildcats claimed three of the nine contested bouts against George Mason (5-8). The Patriots held a 16-3 advantage before senior Tyler Mullen (165 pounds) and freshman Ian Solcz (174 pounds) earned back-to-back decisions to close the gap to seven points, but George Mason earned back-to-back pins from Ryan Hembury at 184 pounds and Mendbagana Tovuujav at 197 pounds to seal the match. Davidson forfeited the heavyweight bout for the final margin.

Freshmen Anthony Elias (133) and Kevin Birmingham (141) earned the lone victories for Davidson against Cleveland State (6-9). Elias scored a 9-7 decision over Nick Flannery and Birmingham took a 9-7 decision over Josh Palivoda. Cory Carlo was the Vikings' top scorer with a technical fall at 165 pounds.

The Wildcats return to action Sunday, Jan. 22, hosting Chattanooga in Belk Arena at 1 p.m.

Hampton, Va. - Campbell dropped its match Saturday morning to Rutgers 24-21. The Camels fell behind the Knights 17-0 before winning four of the final six bouts. CU falls to 8-11 on the season in dual matches.

Nick Rex got the Camels on the scoreboard with a 9-5 decision win over Anthony Volpe. Ryan Krecker then pinned Daniel Seidenberg at 165 pounds to bring the Camels within 17-9.

After dropping bouts at 174 and 184 pounds, John Weakley picked up a forfeit win at 197 pounds. Joe Nolan then pinned Jesse Boyden in the heavyweight division in 1:28.

Campbell returns home to square off in a league matchup with Chattanooga on Friday evening at 7 p.m. The Camels enter with a 2-1 Southern Conference record.

FAIRFAX, Va. - Just two days after knocking off Southern Conference foe Davidson College, the wrestling Keydets of VMI split a pair of dual matches at the Patriot Duals, hosted by George Mason University Saturday afternoon.

In their first match, the Keydets (3-6) fell to Cleveland State 22-15, despite a furious comeback in the upper weight classes. But the loss was short lived as VMI rebounded in the next match, taking down host George Mason 21-17, winning six of the 10 bouts.

Senior 174-pounder Matthew Brock went 2-0 during the Patriot Duals, pinning his first opponent in the second round, followed by a 4-0 decision in the second. Sophomore heavyweight Andrew Embree also went 2-0, winning both his matches 8-1. Likewise, John Dommert went 2-0 at 184 pounds, running his winning streak to three.

In the opener, VMi did not pick up any team points until the 141 pound match as Zeb Stewart picked up an 8-6 decision. The Keydets dropped the next three weights, but went on to win three of the four final bouts. Brock kicked off back-to-back wins with his second round pin of Aric Thurn in 4:35. John Dommert got VMI's next win at 184 pounds, shutting out Robert Blankenship 3-0 and cutting the Vikings' lead to just 12-18.

After dropping 197 pounds, Embree won his first match of the day 8-1 over Garry Yarborogh to seal the Keydets 18 points.

In the second match of the afternoon, VMI cut an early deficit in half as Ryan Goodsell edged Zachary Isenhour 4-2, getting VMI to within three, down 3-6. David Yost knotted the action at 9-9, after the Keydets fell at 141 pounds. Yost notched his second win by fall this season, putting Shohei Takagi on his back in 5:54.

The Keydets logged three straight win at 165, 174 and 184 pounds, starting with freshman Carry Joseph ending a five-match losing skid. The rookie picked up a 5-3 decision over Ty Knepp to put VMI within striking distance, down just 12-13.

Brock notched his 17th decision of the season at 174 pounds, blanking Steve Swayze 4-0 to give VMI its first lead of the afternoon. Brock, who has won his last seven matches, has collected 11 shutouts this season and has not allowed a point in his last three matches.

Dommert locked up his second win of the afternoon with an 8-1 decision to nearly put the match out of the Patriots' reach 18-13. Mason kept things close after a major decision at 197, pulling back to within one of the Keydet lead.

Embree logged the deciding win with a narrow 3-1 margin over Hunter Manspile, giving VMI its second win of the week.

The Keydets return to The Thunderdome on Friday night for a Southern Conference match with the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb University. Action is set to go at 7:30 p.m.
