SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Davidson forward Jake Cohen has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played January 3-9 the league office announced Tuesday (Jan. 10).  Cohen averaged 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games last week as Davidson topped UNCG (92-63) and Georgia Southern (96-74).

After scoring nine points in just 14 minutes of action against the Spartans, Cohen turned in a career performance against Georgia Southern.  The Berwyn, Pa., native tallied career highs in points (29) and rebounds (12) as the Wildcats moved to 4-0 in league play with the win over Georgia Southern.  Cohen missed just two shots against the Eagles as he was 8-of-9 from the field and 11-of-12 from the free throw line.  He finished the week shooting 11-of-16 (.687) from the floor and connected on 93 percent of his free throw attempts (13-of-14).

The Wildcats (10-4, 4-0 SoCon) host Western Carolina (8-8, 3-1 SoCon) Thursday night in a matchup of division leaders.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Omar Carter, College of Charleston's Anthony Stitt, The Citadel's Cosmo Morabbi, Georgia Southern's Eric Ferguson, Chattanooga's Drazen Zlovaric, Samford's Drew Windler, Western Carolina's Keaton Cole and Wofford's Karl Cochran.
