SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNCG senior forward Kristin Player has been selected as the Southern Conference women's soccer player of the week for all matches from September 19-26.
Player turned in a masterful performance in UNCG's 6-1 SoCon-opening win against Chattanooga on Saturday, having a hand in each of the Spartans' first five goals.
Just 1:54 into the match, Player combined on the assist for Karin Sendel's tally, and after Chattanooga evened the match minutes later, the senior scored the game-winner in the 25th minute.
Player would add two more assists and a second goal to total two goals, three assists and seven points in the match. She is now the SoCon's active career leader with 20 assists and 72 points.
The win was UNCG's 15th consecutive victory in a SoCon opener, but the Spartans' 16-match SoCon win streak was snapped in a 1-0 defeat to Samford on Monday.
