SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Ashley Schnell, a senior cross country runner at UNCG, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for September 21, the league office announced today.
The Lincoln, Neb., native holds a 4.00 GPA in music with a concentration in instrumental performance.
The reigning SoCon Women's Champion claimed the Elon Invitational title this past weekend. Schnell crossed the finish line in a time of 17:19, which broke her own school record she set last year.
Other nominees included Appalachian State volleyball player Maggie Seeds, The Citadel volleyball player Alexa Dahlstrom, Davidson runner Demetrios Pagonis, Georgia Southern volleyball player Lauren LaRocque, Samford volleyball player Katie Murphy, and Chattanooga soccer player Becca Smith.
