SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Elon freshman midfielder Bethany Houpt has been selected as the Southern Conference women's soccer player of the week for all matches from September 12-18.
Houpt led the Phoenix to a 2-0 shutout over in-state rival High Point on Friday night at Rudd Field, as the first-year player from Exton, Pa., blasted two second-half goals in the 71st and 76th minute. Houpt's score in the 71st minute was her first collegiate goal.
Elon opens Southern Conference play on Friday by hosting Samford at 7 p.m. ET.
