SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Elon's Morgan Denecke has been named the Southern Conference women's cross country runner of the week for her performance at the College of Charleston Invite on Saturday, the league office announced today.
The junior from Midlothian, Va., led the Phoenix women as she set a school record with a time of 17:56, in Elon's first meet. That was also Denecke's personal best by 44 seconds.
Elon captured the women's title as they claimed each of the top four spots.
Denecke and the rest of the Phoenix squad will return to action this weekend, as they host the third-annual Elon Invitational.
