SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Chattanooga junior forward Becca Smith and Wofford sophomore forward Emily Bougas have been selected as the Southern Conference women's soccer co-players of the week for all matches from September 5-11.
Smith scored the equalizer against Stetson on Friday night in the 81st minute before converting an overtime penalty kick to seal the win for Chattanooga. In Sunday's tournament finale versus Jacksonville State, Smith once again converted a penalty kick to secure a 1-0 shutout. The Mocs (4-1-1) were declared the tournament champions and Smith was named to the all-tournament team on the strength of her three goals.
In Friday evening's 7-0 win over Alabama State, Bougas scored three goals and recorded two assists in only 23 minutes of play. It was her first career hat trick, and her eight points on the day tied a Wofford (6-0-0) l record for the most points in an individual match.
Bougas and Smith are the SoCon's top two goal scorers this season with eight and six tallies, respectively.
