SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Furman freshman Hannah Stanifer has been chosen as the Southern Conference women's soccer player of the week for all matches from August 22-28.
The freshman netted a pair of first half goals to lead Furman past Presbyterian, 3-0, last Friday night in Greenville.
Stanifer, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, opened the scoring at the 20:58 mark as she found space on the left side of the box and hammered a shot over the outstretched arms of the Blue Hose goalkeeper for her first career goal.
In the 38th minute, she deflected a corner kick off of the far post and buried the second effort when the header rebounded back into the middle of the box.
Stanifer is the second freshman in as many weeks to claim the award this season.
