Brewers Promote Conner to Florida State League; Brebbia to Sign

ELON, N.C. -- Former Elon pitcher Mitch Conner, who was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, has been promoted to the club's Advanced A team in the Florida State League.

Conner, who had been pitching for Milwaukee's Rookie League affiliate in Arizona, is now a member of the Brevard County Manatees.

In 11 appearances for the AZL Brewers, Conner appeared in 11 games and posted a 4.09 ERA. In 11.0 innings he walked just three and struck out 17. Conner did not allow a run in his final seven appearances for the Brewers.

Brevard County is currently sitting fifth in the North Division of the Florida State League with a 21-23 record in the second half of the season. The team is playing against the Lakeland Flying Tigers this weekend.

In other Elon baseball news, 2011 draftee John Brebbia has agreed to sign a contract with the New York Yankees. The 2011 SoCon Pitcher of the Year will forgo his final season of eligibility with the Phoenix.
