NEW ORLEANS - The College of Charleston women's track & field team has been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as earning the distinction of All-Academic Team.

"Our team works very hard in practice, competition and in the classroom," Head Coach Amy Seago said. "It's great to be recognized for this achievement and it is always a team goal to excel in academics."

The Cougars earned a 3.29 team GPA and were part of a group of 164 teams that surpassed the required 3.00 standard to achieve All-Academic status.

This past track & field season was a great success as 15 school records were broken and two athletes won Southern Conference Championships in individual events.

The cross country team begins its season with the Eye Opener meet hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 2. The Cougars are also hosting the Southern Conference Championships Oct. 29.
