OMAHA, Neb. - College of Charleston's Daniel Aldrich beat Georgia Southern's Victor Roache in front of 20,578 people at the 2011 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby tonight at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.

Aldrich and Roache tallied 10 and four home runs, respectively, in the first two rounds to advance. In the final round, all home runs were taken off the board and both players received eight outs per at-bat. Aldrich opened the final round by hitting four out of the park during his appearance. With seven outs and no home runs, Roache hit back-to-back homers before his final out of the event.

The TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby ended with the 27th annual Omaha World-Herald fireworks display.

Intersport, a sports and entertainment marketing company, produced and marketed the 2011 College Home Run Derby in conjunction with TD Ameritrade.

Victor Roache Reaches Finals, Finishes Second in Home Run Derby

OMAHA, Neb. - The NCAA Division I home run leader, Victor Roache, donned the Georgia Southern Baseball uniform once more in 2011 when he participated along with seven other of the nation's top home run hitters in the 2nd Annual TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby.

The sophomore advanced through two elimination rounds to reach the finals against SoCon Freshman of the Year Daniel Aldrich from the College of Charleston, but fell 4-2. The two combined for more than 50 home runs during the season and were the top-two contestants in the derby. Roache rallied after seven outs to hit back-to-back long balls before the final out of the event was recorded.

The home run derby consisted of three rounds with Aldrich leading after the first round with seven home runs and adding three more to his total to advance to the finals. Roache was in second place after the first round with two long balls and tacked on two more in the second round to advance to the final round.
