CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. --- The Chattanooga Mocs 2010-11 women's golf team's grade point average ranked in the top 25 in the country the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) announced.  Earlier this month, the Mocs posted four student-athletes on the NGCA All-American Scholar team.

Junior Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and freshmen Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) were named All-American Scholars.  Seniors Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) and Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) joined that quartet in earning Dean's List status as well.

"I'm very proud of our ladies," said head coach Colette Murray. "We stress the importance of comprehensive excellence - academically, athletically and socially - at Chattanooga.  We had a great year by every standard."

The Mocs' 3.649 GPA was 20th in the nation overall, 13th among NCAA Division I universities.  Lee University in nearby Cleveland ranked No. 1 with a 3.864 GPA as five Tennessee institutions ranked in the top 25.

Chattanooga certainly met the standards of its mission of comprehensive excellence.  While excelling in the classroom, the Mocs were also dominant on the course.

UTC won four times this season matching the school record set in the inaugural season of 2007-08 finishing the season ranked No. 31 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.  The Mocs advanced to the NCAA Central Regional, its third straight as a team and fourth regional appearance in as many years of the program's existence.  Wolf and de Groot each captured an individual victory as well.

Chattanooga defended its Southern Conference Championship in April as de Groot became the school's first league medalist.  She captured SoCon Golfer of the Year honors, while Murray repeated as Coach of the Year.  Wolf and Loza joined de Groot on the all-conference team.  Britt, Budhram and Duvernay made the all-freshman squad as all six team members earned a league honor.
